Located in downtown, Sundance Square is the city’s hotspot for nightlife and entertainment. You can find something for every taste. From concerts at Bass Hall to stand-up comedy shows at Hyena’s Comedy Club to catching a play or musical at Circle Theatre—Sundance Square will provide you with plenty to enjoy, regardless of your age or personality.

Looking for some retail therapy while you’re here? There are dozens of boutiques and shops in Sundance Square, selling everything from clothing and jewelry to Western attire, home goods, and souvenirs. The area is very walkable, so take your time browsing the shop windows. The 35-block district also boasts outdoor concerts and family-friendly events throughout the year, as well as picturesque murals perfect for Instagram.

Don’t forget to grab a bite to eat! Sundance Square is home to some of Fort Worth’s most beloved eateries like Reata (a local favorite serving upscale Texan ranch cuisine) and Bird Cafe (a stylish and popular option for brunch and dinner).

CULTURAL DISTRICT

This historic district was designed to resemble the museum row that you’ll find in cities like New York City and Washington D.C., and it definitely delivers. Home to five world-class museums, you can plan an entire day around touring the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, the Kimbell Art Museum, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

You’ll also find the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame here, where you can learn about the women who helped shape the Wild West, and the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History—perfect for families with kids.

Take time to admire the architecture of each museum as well. The Amon Carter Museum was designed by Philip Johnson, the architect behind the iconic Fort Worth Water Gardens. The Kimbell Art Museum includes two distinct pavilions designed by Louis Kahn and Renzo Piano.

Plan to grab lunch at the Modern’s Cafe Modern or enjoy an elegant meal at the Kimbell’s buffet restaurant. Most of the museums are free to the public, but the museum dining options are a little on the pricey side. If you’re traveling with a group and want something cheaper, pack a picnic and bring it with you on the bus. You can also explore some of the best free activites in Fort Worth here!

STOCKYARDS

The Stockyards National Historic District is one of the city’s oldest areas. The neighborhood served as a major livestock market in the late 1800s during the Wild West era, but these days the Stockyards are one of Fort Worth’s most popular tourist attractions. The heart of the Stockyards is Exchange Avenue, a historic brick-paved street lined with shops, saloons, and restaurants.

There’s plenty to do in the Stockyards, from the famous cattle drive to rodeos, museums, and art galleries. Take your group to experience the world’s only twice-daily cattle drive, which happens on Exchange Ave. at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. After you watch the cattle drive, explore the shops and saloons before catching a rodeo or enjoying a meal at a local restaurant. The Stockyards Championship Rodeo is held every Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m., and the historic Cowtown Coliseum is home to the Stockyards’ rodeo.

The Stockyards are also home to the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, where you’ll learn all about the iconic cowboys of Texas, and the Stockyards Museum housed in the historic Livestock Exchange Building, known as the “Wall Street of the West.” Hungry? Order a plate of family-style ribs and sausage at Riscky’s Barbeque, or try Hunter Brothers’ H3 Ranch for gourmet Texan ranch cuisine.

The Texas Christian University area features a blend of college life and family-friendly activities—great if your group includes a variety of tastes. TCU is one of the city’s most popular colleges and it’s easy to access everything from the stadium and recreation centers to the campus bookstore.

TCU also boasts a variety of fine arts performances, sporting events, and museums for the public to enjoy. And when it’s time to grab a bite to eat, plan to visit Dutch’s Burgers & Beer (a local chain named for TCU football legend, Dutch Meyer) for delicious all-American burgers and fries or Local Foods Kitchen (a health-conscious spot).

The Fort Worth Zoo is also one of the area’s most popular attractions and is located less than a mile from TCU. If your family group is in the mood for an outing to see lions, gorillas, elephants, tigers, and other exotic animals, the Fort Worth Zoo should be at the top of your list!

TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY/ALLIANCE

Home to NASCAR, IndyCar, and NHRA races, The Texas Motor Speedway is a popular attraction in Fort Worth, Texas. Located about 20 miles from downtown, it’s a short distance from the developing Alliance neighborhood. The region is growing quickly, offering visitors the opportunity to explore restaurants, parks, and an enormous shopping center, Alliance Town Center.

Plan a trip to Fort Worth and catch one of the speedway’s many races like the NASCAR Cup Series and the NTT IndyCar Series, and if you’re a frequent visitor, consider becoming a member for special perks like garage tours. When planning an event for your racing fan club, you can even rent out the Texas Motor Speedway for your gathering.

Traveling from out of town? Book a private charter bus rental to shuttle your group from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and to and from each of your stops along the way. Your charter bus driver can safely transport you to the speedway from your hotel or restaurant of choice and will handle the navigation so you don’t have to worry.

CAMP BOWIE DISTRICT

If you’re a local, you may know this area as the West Side. It’s best known as the historic Camp Bowie Boulevard lined with shops, restaurants, and historic buildings that’s perfect for an afternoon of window shopping and admiring the architecture.

This historic neighborhood also boasts the oldest park in Fort Worth—the 120-acre Trinity Park—as well as the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, which is home to a variety of themed gardens with water features, trails, and a fragrant rose garden. The district also features several museums, including the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the Kimbell Art Museum, and the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History.

WEST 7TH

This trendy neighborhood is quickly becoming one of the city’s most popular spots for nightlife and entertainment. You’ll find restaurants, bars, and venues packed with people most evenings. The Magnolia Motor Lounge is a popular venue for live music and the Reservoir (a sprawling bar and restaurant with multiple bars and a patio) is a great spot to enjoy a beer on a sunny afternoon. If you’re looking for something calmer, you can catch a movie at the West 7th AMC theatre or enjoy dinner at Ellerbe Fine Foods, a local favorite serving refined Southern cuisine.

Crockett Row at West 7th, a sprawling shopping complex with a variety of boutiques, restaurants, and cafes, is also a popular spot in the area. The Shops at West 7th is a pedestrian-friendly shopping center, so bring your walking shoes and get ready to explore.

CLEARFORK

This upscale neighborhood in southwest Fort Worth is new, sleek, and full of high-end options for shopping and dining. There are several high-end luxury apartment complexes in the area. But unlike other neighborhoods, you’ll also find a large development of upscale homes that will set your bank account back a few million dollars. If you’re looking for a place to live the suburban life, Clearfork is the place to go. The neighborhood also features the Shops at Clearfork, an open-air shopping center, and The Trailhead at Clearfork, a walking and biking trail along the Trinity River.

The Trailhead is also home to Press Cafe (a local favorite for all-American brunch, lunch, and dinner) and the Fort Worth location of AMC Dine-In Theatres. At this movie theatre, guests can choose from traditional stadium seating as well as spacious lounge-style seating and enjoy full bar and food service to their seats.

NORTHSIDE

A large area of north Fort Worth is known for the trendy “Near Southside” area, home to Magnolia Avenue. There are tons of fun and unique businesses along the stretch of Magnolia Avenue. This neighborhood is also a great place to find a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, and stores, such as locally owned shops like The Collective and Stir Crazy Baked Goods. The area is quite walkable so grab your comfiest pair of shoes and get ready to explore!

This island, located north of downtown Fort Worth, isn’t quite an island in the traditional sense, and is actually a peninsula. The Trinity River flows around the island on three sides. There are a few apartment complexes, but the island itself is primarily known as a hub for recreation and events like the Rockin’ the River summer concert series and the Trinity River Kayak Race.

Panther Island also features the Coyote Drive-In, an outdoor movie theatre where you can watch films beneath the stars and Coyotes Bar and Grill.
